Joe's Background

Joe started performing live, in the mid 1970's, while at Ohio University. During that period the young guitarist began to develop a signature Santanaish solo style and some funky rhythm chops. In more recent years he exhibited those skills on the bandstand, as a former founding member of the contemporary jazz group The Urban Jazz Coalition. UJC has had a number of songs to chart in the Smooth Jazz genre.

Joe says "getting to meet and perform in events with great bands and artists such as Spyro Gyra, Al Jarreau, George Benson, The Rippingtons, Nick Colionne, Larry Carlton and others was a great inspiration.  Those great players make you go home and practice!"

"Now I totally enjoy writing music intended to romance the mood and emotion of other people's projects. It causes me to think beyond how I might normally approach creating a music track."

"I love to co-write with other writers.  I learn from their skills and perspectives.  It causes me to think outside of my normal writing patterns.  I grow and have fun at the same time."

Joe has music that is published with a number of music libraries.  And has placements in "The Young and The Restless".

Joe plays electric and acoustic guitars, bass, banjo, mandolin and keyboards. He records with Studio One and Pro Tools.  Joe is a member of ASCAP.
